Do we need a licence to hire a dinghy? Yes, the Hirer must be at least 18 years or over and provide their valid Drivers Licence. A valid Recreational Skippers Ticket / Recreational Boat Licence is also required for the dinghy hire and must be provided on the day.
Can we take alcohol on the boat? Yes. Alcohol can be taken on board in moderation. Excessive amounts of alcohol may result in termination of the booking. Just like the road rules, the driver of the vessel must remain under the blood alcohol limit of .05
Extra large eskies will not be allowed to be taken on board.
Are babies and children allowed? Yes. Pontoon boats are suitable for babies and young children.
ALL Children aged under 12 years of age are required to have a suitable lifejacket available at all times on any of our hire vessels, as required by AMSA. (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) and DOTWA (Department of Transport WA)
These life jackets must be a minimum Level 100 buoyancy rating.
Please let us know at the time of booking, the number of children and the age and weight of each child that will be onboard the hire vessel.
Are lifejackets included? All our vessels are equipped with emergency lifejackets (for adults only) and safety devices as required by AMSA. (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) and DOTWA (Department of Transport WA)
When operating in rivers, lakes, estuaries, harbours and waters within 400 metres from the shore, you must carry a lifejacket (Level 100 or higher) for each person on board.
Please let us know at the time of booking the number of children and the age and weight of each child that will be onboard the hire vessel as we have limited children's lifejackets available for hire.
A hire will not be able to go ahead if the children do not have life jackets and your hire fee will be forfeited.
Can we bring our children's own lifejackets? Yes of course you can, as long as they are at least a minimum Level 100 buoyancy rating. Even with lifejackets on, children must always remain under close supervision when in the water.
Can we bring our dog? Yes, we are pet friendly, however they are allowed on the Half Day afternoon Hire options only. ( and may be included in the total passenger count ) Please add your dog when booking online in our booking questions, or call to check with us in advance.
The Hirer is responsible for any pets that are taken on board. Please note if a pet is responsible for soiling or damage to any areas, including seating and/or cushions, the Hirer will be responsible for compensation to clean and repair/replace.
Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control whilst at our property and you will be required to pick up and bin any faeces from your dog.
Is fuel included in the hire cost? Yes. 25lt is included with all hires. If more fuel is required it will be charged at the current price of the day of hire .
Are there BBQs on the pontoon boats? Yes, a gas BBQ with liner, cooking utensils, plates & cutlery are all supplied.
Is fishing gear included? No, but you can bring your own fishing gear, however you will require a WA Fishing Licence.
Any fish that are caught & kept must not be cleaned on the boat or at the departure area. Please refer to the Department of Fisheries for information about recreational fishing, bag and size limits.
Is there Barramundi in Lake Kununurra? Yes! Over One million Barramundi fingerlings have been released into Lake Kununurra in recent years. Visit www.lakekununurrabarramundi.com.au or the Lake Kununurra Barramundi Stocking Group Facebook page for more information.
Is there an esky on the boats? No. Please contact us if you would like to hire one. Ice is not included with the esky hire.

Can I hire a kayak or SUP to take on the boat? No. We do not have those hire facilities available. You are welcome to bring your own on board if there is enough room and you supply your own life jackets.
Can we take prams on board the pontoon boats? Yes, they will need to be lifted onto the boat.
Can we swim off the pontoon boats? Yes. The pontoon boats must be anchored prior to anyone entering the water.
Pool noodles are supplied for your convenience. Please stay close to the boat and be aware of other boat users on the lake.
Can we swim off the dinghies? No. The dinghies are not suitable to swim from.
Are there crocodiles in the Lake? Yes. Freshwater crocodiles are common in Lake Kununurra. Lake Kununurra is part of The Lake Kununurra Crocodile Control Zone which extends from the Diversion Dam, south along the Ord River, to the Lake Argyle Dam Wall. The risk of estuarine (saltwater) crocodiles being present in Lake Kununurra is reduced by annual crocodile surveys of the lake, patrols and observations of the area and removal of estuarine crocodiles when detected. Estuarine Crocodiles have been known to enter this area undetected.
Be Crocodile Safe - Exercise caution in the area and keep children and pets under close supervision. Do not clean fish near the waters edge and remove all fish and food waste.
Do not interfere with any crocodile traps. Fines do apply.
Report any sightings of estuarine crocodiles to Parks and Wildlife Service Kununurra on 08-9168 4200

There is a small ladder for entry and exit of the water if you wish to swim off the boat. Please contact us if there will be anyone with mobility issues in your group, before booking.
